There was fantastic sound in many rooms and it was hard to pick winners this year. Noteworthy rooms included Genesis, Nola-UHA, Focal-Axiss-VAC, Lansche-Ypsilon, Brodmann-Thrax and Raidho. The Gold Show winners were only a small notch above these outstanding rooms.
Surprisingly, the star of the show was a silent exhibit. The Magico Ultimate made its first CES appearance and overwhelmed everyone who saw it. Pictures do not convey the size and scale of this unique horn loudspeaker.
The YG Acoustics Hailey made its public debut and the sound was extraordinarily realistic. YG has made giant strides over the past two years in musicality and believability. This is no longer a detail only design house.
MBL was back at the top of its game with “concert like” sound and amazing imaging. Speaking of imaging, the VTL electronics mated with the Wilson Alexia were darn close to the MBLs in that "concert hall” experience.
The sonic surprise of the show was the Acoustic Zen, Triode Corp. and Kronos room. If you closed your eyes Anne Bisson was in the room with you.
Congratulations to all the winners and noteworthy rooms. High performance audio is alive and doing very well thank you.
